Sometimes parents look at me like I told their child “Santa doesn’t exist “when I tell their children “No you can’t play with Uncle Cam’s phone”. The next time I get that “look” or anyone goes to give a fussy toddler their phone I’ll be sure to tell them Paul Stoute’s story.
The Portland father got the shock of his life after discovering his one-year-old daughter had bought him a car on eBay.
Stoute told Portland’s KPTV that he received a notice from eBay congratulating him on his purchase of a 1962 Austin Healey Sprite for $225.
After verifying the purchase, Stoute realized that his young daughter, who really enjoys playing with daddy’s smartphone, had logged into the eBay app which can be used to instantly make a purchase.
“I contacted the seller right away to [see] if he could contact the previous bidder to see if he would take it,” he said to ABC news
But all’s well that ends well, Paul and his wife Christina said that they’re going to turn Sorella’s mistake into the best present ever.
Stoute says he plans on keeping the car – which was listed as a “fixer upper” – and fix it up in time for her 16th birthday or graduation.
